There's a few events happening in Okotoks for the first weekend of fall.

The Okotoks Harvest & Blues Festival kicks off tonight, Friday, Sept. 22, with renowned blues artist Tim Williams and friends performing at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre.

Mark Doherty, Community Events Coordinator for the Town of Okotoks shares there will also be a concert Saturday evening as well, as David Gogo visits Okotoks.

"David Gogo is an amazing blues guitarist as well, he's won five Juno nominations, Western Canadian Music award, the guy is extremely talented. If you're a blues fan this is your weekend you want to be there."

The festival also includes a family focused outdoor event at Ethel Tucker Park Saturday afternoon.

"There's old fashioned carnival games, and that's a kick off to the United Way fundraising program. For five dollars you get to play these 10 games, every kid wins a prize, the last game and probably most popular is the candy in the hay, kids love that."

The event, which runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. also includes horse drawn wagon rides, and a whole afternoon of live entertainment.

Saturday is also an exciting day for Lineham House Galleries on Elma Street, as they hose their official grand opening.

A ribbon and cake cutting for the new gallery will take place at 12:30 p.m. with guests such as Mayor Bill Robertson, MP John Barlow, and MLA Wayne Anderson in attendance.

The gallery will also run artist demos throughout the afternoon, the Lineham House Grand Opening runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
