The High River Fire Department is still going over what's left of a house fire in southeast High River from Monday, October 12.

Fire Chief Cody Zebedee says they haven't had a chance to get in there and find out what caused the fire.

"We haven't really dug into it yet. Hopefully by later today (Tuesday, October 13), we'll have a better idea what the cause of the fire was. It did cause some fairly significant damage to the back of the home and also the interior of the house as well."

Zebedee says they were there from early afternoon into the late evening.

"Our crews got the call around 1:30 p.m. and our first arriving apparatus showed up three minutes after the initial call. We had a total of five apparatus and 16 members on scene yesterday from High River. And crews were on scene until approximately 9 o'clock last night. Just making sure everything was good and hot spots were being taken care of."

He says while the house was badly damaged, no one was hurt.

"At the time of the fire, there were seven people in the house. We don't know if they all lived there or not, but there were seven in the home. But they all escaped safely without any injuries and there were no injuries to any fire crews."

Zebedee won't speculate on a damage estimate until the investigation is complete.
