It's hard to find meaningful work in today's economy.

If you're thinking about a career change, post secondary, or just trying to find a job to pay your bills you might want to try out the Okotoks McBride Career Group's 8th annual Career Expo.

Donna Stratton with McBride Career Group says there will be plenty of vendors and around 60 positions for the Foothills on offer.

"We have about 45 vendors. 35 of those vendors are employers so they're going to be looking for people to come work either part-time, full-time or seasonal employment." Stratton says "We also have 5 educational institutions that are going to be there, and the major educational institutions within Alberta."

If you need information on E.I, C.P.P benefits, or apprenticeships McBride Career Group does have two break-out sessions scheduled during the day to deal with those exact topics.

"The 1st one is at 2 P.M. and it's information about E.I. and C.P.P. and then we'll have another break out session at 4 P.M. and it's been strategically placed for any one who needs information on apprenticeship programs, including high school students."

Now that we live in a digital age, it can be hard for your résumé to stand apart from other competitors. Little or no face-to-face contact can make it harder for many to gain employment.

Stratton says tomorrow is the perfect time to get in front of a representative and ask questions.

"Many employers are actually only taking applications online now so you never get that opportunity to be in front of them." Stratton adds "So this is the best opportunity to actually hand them your résumé, talk to them a little bit about the position, let them know, what you know about the company and put your best foot forward by being dressed for success."

The Career Expo will run Thursday from 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Centennial Centre, and it is a free event.

Be sure to bring some copies of your résumé and your best smile!
