Through the 2017 Municipal Election season The Eagle 100.9 and Okotoks Online will be bringing you profiles of candidates to help you make an informed decision.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"We moved here to Okotoks, my wife and I and our two children in 1989, and have lived here ever since, we welcomed a daughter in 1990 and raised them in Okotoks. We were very involved in sports with the kids growing up, I coached ball for over 20 years here, I ran the junior curling program for a number of years, and sat on both boards; the minor baseball board and the Okotoks curling board. Most recently I was president of the Peak Volleyball Club which is now ACE Volleyball. We've always been quite involved in town and now I'm in semi-retirement, so I thought I had enough time to devote to be an effective councillor, and thought I'd try to give back a little bit more to the community."

What is the main part of your platform?:

"Tthe main part of my platform is going to be accessibility and accountability. I think we need to get the people of Okotoks more involved in decisions made by the town and how we move forward. Obviously we're growing fast and we need to make decisions based on that growth, but they need to be both sustainable and economical.

Why do you believe you'd make a good councillor?:

"I think I'd make a good councillor because number one I'd be able to devote the time to it, I'm going to hold regular office hour down here so people can come down and have a visit if they have any issues or complaints. I'm also going to be accessible by phone or email. I've sat on enough boards and believe I can work with almost anyone, as long as we have the same vision in moving forward effectively."

The Municipal Election goes Monday, Oct. 16.
