Through the 2017 Municipal Election season The Eagle 100.9 and Okotoks Online will be bringing you profiles of candidates to help you make an informed decision.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

"I've served on Town Council since 2010, I grew up in Okotoks since 1989. I have experience working for the Town of Okotoks as a City Planner, I did that for five and a half years, I did City Planning in Calgary for over seven years, and I'm currently employed as a publisher for the Western Wheel news paper. I have a young family, we have three young kids that attend school here in Okotoks, and I'm really looking forward to another term here on Okotoks Council."

What is the main part of your platform?:

"Top of the priority list is securing grant funding for the regional water pipeline to supplement our local water supply from the Sheep River. The big focus of the next four years on Town Council is going to be long range planning, working with residents to put forward visions in our new Municipal Development Plan, Inter-municipal Development Plan, we're going to see new applications for Area Structure Plans, and an Area Re-development Plan for the downtown area. This next four years is really about looking ahead at the next 30 years, setting long range plans and working with everybody in the town to determine what the best future for Okotoks can be."

Rockley adds his accomplishments over the past seven years prove his ability as a councillor:

"When I first ran in 2010 my top priority was annexation for growth management and equitable taxation between Okotoks residents and M.D. of Foothills residents, so I'm thrilled that we now have an annexation agreement that was amicable to both the town and M.D. of Foothills, I'm proud to have been an active member of the Annexation Negotiation Committee that brought it together. In the beginning nobody thought that we would arrive at an agreement that both municipalities agreed to so it's fabulous that has been completed on good terms, now we can move forward to looking at the best future for Okotoks."
