A great way to kick off the Canada day long weekend, as businesses in Olde Towne Okotoks put together a vibrant Canada Day Market.

Mandy Patterson, Owner of the Cactus Club Salon and Spa is part of the Olde Towne Merchants Group says it was a resounding success.

"It's been such a success. I've been on the Olde Town Okotoks Merchants Group for some time now, and we've had our struggles over the years in encouraging businesses to stay open late, or come bring stuff onto the sidewalks.  For some reason everyone was really excited about doing it this time."

Over 40 vendors participated in the Market which Patterson says, she is open to doing again.

"Absolutely, any night of the week or maybe on weekends, or whenever we can get people and families out here to enjoy time together and enjoy the community that we live in, is a really great thing."

Patterson shares that it was a fantastic kick off to the long weekend, and there wasn't one bored person in attendance.

"We had tons of swag including balloons, bracelets, flags, pins and lots to do. There was live music, games and face painting. Even Misty Wind, the local hair ninja got involved offering hair tattoos to those who wanted one."

Even residents were impressed, many commenting that they would love to see business participation become a regular thing.
