The Town of Nanton got a shot in the arm during their Round-Up Days celebrations Monday.

Mayor Rick Everett was all smiles after getting word the town would be receiving a grant from the Federal Government's Canada-150 Program of 1.75 million dollars towards the rebuild of their waste water treatment plant.

"The Federal Government and (MacLeod MP) John Barlow have really worked hard for our town and hs come through with 1.75 million dollars," he says. "And that's really going to help put our waste water treatment plant in place. We're moving forward with that as fast as we can and hope to have it up and running next year now."

The official announcement was made Friday, but Barlow was on hand to talk with the Mayor in person Monday, he stressed the decision to give the town the money was made prior to the election call.

However, he says it's been something he's wanted to help the Town out with for a while.

"You know this is probably one of the first things I started working on when I was elected last year," he says. "It came up a few months ago as well with the Mayor and his staff. I know this is something desperately needed as an infrastructure project here in Nanton. So I was very happy to announce that they've got the new Building Canada funding to help, along with the funding from the Province."

Everett says they've also received six million dollars in Provincial funding for the project.

He says they'll have the new plant ready to go by December of 2016.
