The Town of Okotoks is getting ready to paint its outdoor piano for spring and summer, but they need some help.

A contest will be held to see whose winning proposal will dawn the piano.

Culture and Heritage Manager Allan Boss says they can't wait to see what designs and concepts local artists will come up with.

"The idea to paint the piano comes from many other communities and they often paint them and make them quite attractive to look at," he says. "We wanted to do that right from the beginning, although we put the piano out in the mid-summer and we wanted to get it on to the street rather than take time to paint it and then put it out."

The grand prize winner will not only get their design put on the popular piano in the Olde Towne Plaza, but also $250 cash along with the supplies needed to paint the piano.

Boss says there are a lot of talented artists in town and they want to see them in action.

"You get bragging rights and we're going to have a big unveiling that we're going to do, we'll probably program a concert around it and get some people out to play it and it will be a lot of fun when we put it out again this year."

The deadline to submit an entry is Fri. Feb. 26.
