With an increased chance of snow on top of the cold spell the Foothills is in, random acts of kindness couldn't come at a better time.

The Town of Okotoks is encouraging 'Snow Angels' to once again help others shovel snow from their neighbour's driveways or sidewalks if they're unable to.

Mayor Bill Robertson says there's a few ways you can become a Snow Angel.

"If somebody is able to volunteer let the Town know that they're able to go out and be willing to shovel somebody's sidewalk who perhaps might have difficulty getting outside and doing their own personal clearing of snow from sidewalks and drive ways," he says.

He says it's more than just a good deed to the community.

"A clear pathway from snow and ice is that much safer. So if people are able to able volunteer let the Town know then if somebody needs a Snow Angel they can contact the Town and the Town would refer that person to go out to somebody's home."

Robertson is also encouraging those wanting to be a Snow Angel to just go out and be helpful if you notice someone that could used a hand in shovelling.

"They may just volunteer, go knock on that person's door and say 'I noticed you're on crutches is it possible I can clean your sidewalk for you?' So we certainly encourage those types of wholesome, good hearted people to go out and offer up their able bodied services to others that need it."
