McRae st. in Okotoks was packed yesterday for the town's annual BuskerFest event.

There were a number of acts that participated for cash prizes and the opportunity to preform on the main stage for future events.

Performances varied from acoustic guitar accompaniments to belly dancing, and the event also featured an artisan market.

Many of the artists participating said they were nervous at first, but the event really helps them to develop confidence.

Christy Greene, Director of Eight Wonder Studio, and Belly Dance instructor, says she hears many comments from audience members.

"I think people either enjoy performing or they don't, but I do hear the 'I couldn't do that' quite often, it's a good confidence booster to get out there, but a better question for the audience as to whether it inspires them to try to preform one day."

Here's a look at the day and the varied acts/performances that attendees were able to take in.
