Bulldozers have been at the Old Creamery Building along Riverside Drive this week.

Hazardous materials have been removed from the interior and now work has begun on tearing down the exterior.

The demolition is the result of a fire that took place at the historic site back in the spring.

The final decision to demolish the building was made by the Town of Okotoks following a structural assessment that found severe damage to the roof truss system and floor joists.

The Town has said it will try to salvage some of the over 100-year-old beams for future projects depending on their condition.

Demolition of the building officially began on Oct. 23 with exterior work starting on Oct. 26.
