High River RCMP were kept busy last Thursday with a couple of break-ins outside of the town.

The first happened just after 5 a.m. in the rural area of 56 Street East.

Mounties say a male suspect broke into the home through an unlocked garage door, but the homeowner managed to subdue and detain the culprit until RCMP got there.

Kurt Morgan, 21, of no fixed address is facing charges of break and enter to a residence, five counts possession of stolen property, one count of theft as well as a single count of criminally driving while unauthorized.

Later that morning police were called to another complaint of suspicious person who was seen fleeing on foot from another rural residence.

RCMP went so far as to call out the HAWCS helicopter from Calgary to help in the search, but they came up empty.

Police are reminding homeowners to be extremely cautions when dealing with unknown persons and to be vigilant in locking doors and securing personal property.

Anyone with information is asked to call the High River RCMP at (403) 652-2357.
