Okotoks was host to another Black Lives Matter rally Saturday, June 20, with over 100 supporters marching throughout Town to have their voices heard.

Brionnae Marillier-Phillips organized the gathering, saying she was amazed by the turnout.

"I was not expecting such a great turnout, we had at one point 163 people with us. We did expect some counter-protesters, the same ones from Innisfail and a few other places but we didn't have any problems which was amazing, we were worried for everyone's safety, If I am one-hundred percent honest I'm still shocked and trying to deal with all of my emotions because it went so well. We felt very heard, my whole point for trying to get everyone together was for people to hear us, I feel like people don't want to talk about this and they don't want to ask people about their experiences."

Marillier-Phillips says she was disappointed in the lack of support from the RCMP.

"Our poster says we are protesting against police brutality, in my opinion, if you are a police officer who does your job correctly and you hold your colleagues to the same standard, I was dumbfounded to see that they wouldn't want to support that message."

There is another Black Lives Matter protest scheduled in Calgary for this coming weekend.
