Those hoping to catch a ride around Black Diamond soon won't have long to wait as the Handi-Bus Shuttle Service Project got the official green light to begin in early 2021.

Mayor of Black Diamond Ruth Goodwin says after speaking with residents they felt this was their best plan.

"We got the feedback that local people and residents were interested in communicating around Black Diamond and between our communities of Turner Valley and Black Diamond."

For those who are hoping to be able to move freely without having to break the bank, Goodwin says it's not a horrible cost to get around.

"Cost for our residents in Black Diamond travelling between Black Diamond and Turner Valley or around town is 3 dollars each way and then travelling from Black Diamond to Okotoks is 7 dollars each way."

Goodwin says this will be a great way for those who don't have a way to get to and from Okotoks to do so.

"Planned stops would be from Black Diamond to Okotoks twice a day to offer those who have trips planned or appointments or other plans in Okotoks a way to get to and from Black Diamond and Okotoks."

Goodwin says these busses won't hit the road until "sometime early in 2021" and they are excited to see the project get on its way.
