A Black Diamond citizen has addressed council about the look of plaques on historical downtown buildings.

Sharlene Brown, Mayor of Black Diamond, says the plaques are apart of the Main Street Program put in place back in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

"The program gave historical recognition to 19 buildings downtown which is the majority of our historical downtown core." Brown says.

Each building has a plaque on it to explain its historical significance and place in history.  It's been sixteen years since the plaques were put in place.

Brown says, "The plaques themselves could need some restoration work to give them a spruce up."

Council sent the motion to the Economic Development Committee to look into for the upcoming budget.

"Our economic development committee and director will come forward with a proposal." Brown says.
