Bibles for Missions Okotoks celebrated the ground breaking of their new facility last week.

The new store will be located on Stockton Avenue across from the bottle depot and will be over 17,000 square feet which is triple the size of the store's current 5,800 square foot location on Elizabeth Street.

Dale Attrill, manager of Bibles for Missions Okotoks, says the new store, funded by Bibles for Missions Canada, is a testament to the groups hard work.

"In these economic times the store truly has a purpose, not just to meet the needs of the people in town where they can find great goods at really good prices, but they're also supporting in helping in their own community," he says. "The Bibles for Missions Foundation has seen how it's grown here and they decided we need a bigger space and we agree."

With about 50 volunteers, three staff members and looking to add quality used furniture, the new location will be put to good use.

Attrill says he's thankful for the hard work of the volunteers.

"We have some tremendous volunteers, if it wasn't for the volunteers we wouldn't get the work done. I just want people to know the people who volunteer down there work hard. We have some who volunteer one shift a week and some who are down there three or four days a week. It becomes like a family, a real social thing. We have fun."

Those who are interested in donating their time to Bibles for Missions are encouraged to visit the current store on Elizabeth Street.

The new location on Stockton Avenue is set to be completed sometime this fall.
