Bibles for Missions are joining in with the ongoing support for Fort McMuarray evacuees by accepting donations.

All Bible for Missions stores across Alberta, which includes Okotoks, Calgary, Red Deer and Ponoka, will be taking any supplies donated.

Okotoks Bibles for Missions Assistant Manager and Volunteer Coordinator Rachel Terwillegar says they will accept anything that is given but are looking for certain donations.

"Donations such as diapers, femine supplies, toilitries, pillows and mens clothing because I've heard that a lot of the evacuation shelters, whatever they have donated clothes wise there's only about one item to every ten items for women. So all of the bibles for missions stores are gathering donations for this week and sending it to the evacuation centres."

The group also will supply any Fort McMurray evacuee with anything they need enter a Bibles for Missions store Terwillegar says, "also we will help any person that comes into our store from an evacuation centre. All they have to do is show their I.D. to make sure they are from Fort McMurray and we will give them anything they want."

The Okotoks store was going to deliver to Lac La Biche but that centre recently got a burst of supplies so they haven't decided what evacuee centres they will be delivering the donated neccesties to quite yet.

Terwillegar says they feel blessed they are able to give back at this time of need.

"It's hugely imporntant to give back. We have a reputation especially the OKotoks store of helping people in need becauae we were very instrumental in giving people back so many things they lost in the flood. So its just something we feel strongly about and so does our foundation and we are just really happy and blessed to be apart of it."

The thrift store is also taking cash donations and buying needed items to send on their trucks, their east coast stores will be sending money to help purchase goods.

If interested in donating the Okotoks store is located on 49 Elizabeth Street in the Town Square Plaza.

The Okotoks location will be accepting until Friday as they plan to deliver to the chosen evacuee centres on Saturday.
