If you go down to the woods today you could be in for a big surprise.

Alberta Parks have closed the Kananaskis Lower Lake Day Use Area in Peter Lougheed provincial park because there are multiple bears in the area.

The Day Use Area shoreline access is closed until further notice.

Alberta parks says while there's a specific warning for this area hikers can happen opun a bear anywhere in K-Country.

To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear they suggest making plenty of noise, travel in groups, be aware of your surroundings, look and listen for bears and their signs, keep pets on a leash and carry bear spray.

Also they stress make sure it’s easily accessible, and know how to use it.
