Local kids will be entertained as a hit CBC talent hits the Rotary Performing Arts Centre.

Will Stroet and his Backyard Band will be performing twice on Saturday.

Stroet says the show will have lots of music but everybody in attendance will learn something too.

"Very high energy interactive performance, I really believe in getting the kids really involved and getting them engaged from start to finish," he says. "We have songs with all kinds of themes if the audience is familiar with the series on Kids CBC, they're all kinds from safety to literacy to sports."

The star of Will's Jams says that his shows live bring kids together.

"There's definitely an educational component to a lot of the songs but it's the kind of show where it's not about teaching, it's learning without realizing you're learning."

Stroet was a teacher in Vancouver but says he always had a knack for entertaining.

"I taught for about five years and kind of did this music as kind of more as a hobby really, but I just kept doing more and more performances and getting more and more interest and eventually I took a leave of absence from teaching and that was 6.5 years ago and I haven't looked back."

The Rotary Performing Arts Centre is hosting two shows on Sat. Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids and are available by clicking here.
