The Okotoks Charity Checkstop is back for another Christmas season.

On December 15 members of the Okotoks RCMP, Municipal Enforcement and the Fire Department will be taking donations for numerous organizations within town.

Okotoks RCMP Sgt. Sukh Randhawa says they're looking to add to their totals from last year's event.

"The purpose behind that is that we reach out to the community for donations for various programs," he says. "Last year we raised about $8000 so we're hoping to improve on that from last year."

The checkstop will be along Milligan Drive right next to the Okotoks Rec Centre from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Randhawa says be prepared to stop for a good cause.

"We had somewhere between five to six truckloads of food so we're looking to improve on that as well. It's a fun thing to do and get involved with the community so it won't be a checkstop, no tickets will be handed out, we'll just be reaching out to the community for some donations whether it's monetary or food."

The Eagle 100. will also be on location during the checkstop along with other local dignitaries.
