The Okotoks Block Parent program is holding an information meeting Wednesday.

They want to cover a number of topics, revolving around their ongoing commitments to the community as well as shedding the light on a couple of new situations that have arisen in the past few months.

Not only will the block parents be looking for new homes to become members but also to help parents explain potential risks to their children.

Chairman Donna Fox says a couple of recent events have prompted the meeting.

"It's more just information for the general public because of the incident that happened earlier where a little girl was attacked," she says.

Fox is referring to the attempted abduction that occurred in Crystal Shores on January 27 when an eight year old girl was approached by man, luckily she was able to run away from him.

She's hoping this meeting will bring more Block Parents to the group.

"We're going to try and get some more Block Parents that will get the signs and put them up in their homes so that the children know where there's safe homes in the area they are."

Fox says all the information will be provided and inquiries will be answered at the meeting.

"We're just going to give out general information, we have forms that can be handed out and just a bit about what Block Parents do, we're all volunteers."

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Dr Morris Gibson School.
