It's less than a week away and Macleod MP John Barlow is ready to take on Alberta roads for a great cause.

The Foothills "Ride to Horizon" takes place starting Friday in the Crowsnest Pass and ending up near Bragg Creek on Saturday.

Barlow is riding for the camp and taking donations towards the Easter Seals Camp Horizon renovations.

He says he's just helping the camp make it to the end of their fundraising goal.

"They've already raised over eight million (dollars) so they've done an amazing job that way," Barlow says. "We're just trying to do a little bit, to raise their final goal."

Barlow says the camp holds a special place in his heart after visiting the camp and is excited to be a part of their fundraising efforts.

"7500 people go to the camp each summer, 1200 of those are youth with special needs," he says. "Its an amazing facility, its where children and youth of no matter what disability, you get to be a regular kid for a week and thats what makes the camp so special."

Barlow along with supporters will be riding their bikes over 200 kilometres during the two day journey, and when asked if he was in shape heading into the event... he said he's behaved when it comes to indulging, with the temptation of many barbeques and stampede breakfasts he's been at over the summer.

"I was pretty diligent in Ottawa over the winter to be careful," he says. "I actually lost a couple of pounds, I'm sure thats going to help a little bit on this ride."

Barlow hopes to raise over 10 thousand dollars on his ride to Camp Horizon.
