School is out for the summer and so is the Canadian Parliament and Foothills MP John Barlow is looking forward, not to his vacation, but to going back to work in the fall.

He says after losing the 2015 election they are gaining momentum.

"After the 2015 election, and I think a lot of people thought we would be pretty dejected, but we had a very clear vision, we wanted to come through that and be the strongest opposition in Canadian Parliament history and I think we have been that."

Barlow adds the Conservatives were able to make the Liberals back off things like electoral reform and changing taxes for health care.

"They have had to back off a lot of the promises that they wanted to do. I think as an opposition I think we won the session, I think that is very clear."

Barlow also stated the latest polls show the liberals only five points ahead of the Conservatives.

"That is minority territory and possibly losing. Now that we have a full time leader with Andrew Scheer, I am really excited to get back in the fall."
