Assisted dying legislation is now before Parliament.

Foothills MP John Barlow says he was glad to see the Liberals put some of the recommendations from public feedback sessions into the wording of the legislation.

"Constituents had some real issues with including minors, including those with mental health issues, advance notification and the lack of any protection for physicians and health practioners, who didn't want to participate in Doctor assisted dying. It was good to see they listened. There's still some concerns there, but I feel a little bit more comfortable that it's going in the right direction."

Barlow says once the legislation makes its way through Parliament it will likely face legal challenges from people on both sides of the issue.
