This year 28 balloons are coming to High River to take part in the Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival.

That is up from 17 last year which also means they need volunteers to sign up sooner, rather than later, to make sure everything runs smoothly from September 27th to October 1.

Jamie Kinghorn says they need ground crew, people to help measure, crowd control and many other positions.

"I've just been told another two may come to High River," said Kinghorn. "The two are newer world champions and we are really excited to have them but for each balloon we need at least four crew people and we are having problems getting to that number now."

Volunteers don't have to commit to the whole weekend.

"They can pick a day where they can come out and do maybe a morning flight, and the next day maybe an evening flight. Whatever their availability is.

This is the fifth year for the event and organizers are really excited for it.

"We have new shapes coming this year. We've got some pilots that have never been here before coming and of course it is the Canadian championships it is a bigger event than we have had before and with 28 balloons it is going to be amazing.

The easiest way to sign up  is to go to their Facebook Page, Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival, email them at heritageinnballoonfestival@gmail.com  or the volunteer coordinator is Janice Storch who can be reached at docksnflipflops@gmail.com
