The Okotoks Family Resource Centre has partnered with Staples to provide low income families with school supplies.

Specialist at the Okotoks Family Resource Centre, Sherri Mullen says it's easy to apply for the program.

"We have people fill out a very brief application listing their kids names and ages and, if they have children who are in kindergarten through grades seven and meet our income guidelines, we're able to help them with a $65 Staples gift card."

Mullen says only those who have children enrolled in schools in Okotoks, Black Diamond, De Winton, Millarville, or Turner Valley are eligible for the program.

Mullen says there are income brackets that determine if you can apply for the program.

"For a three person family, so a single parent with two children, families have to make less than $38,200. For a family of four, so two parents, two kids have to have an income showing less than $46,400 after taxes."

Mullen says if you would like to donate to help support the program there are ways to besides donating directly at Staples.

"We do take cash or cheque donations at the Family Resource Centre, which is located at 11 Cimarron Common. We are able to give tax receipts if donations are made to us directly for anything over $10."
