High River residents are no stranger to evacuations thanks to Mother Nature.

Same story for residents of Grand Forks in B.C.'s southern interior, many of which have been on evacuation alert for several days thanks to fires burning just across the border in Washington.

Resident Myrna Logan says they're ready to stay and fight, or run if they have to.

"People are prepared," she says. "They've got sprinklers on their roofs and are ready to have some things packed, and not panicking, but definitely trust the officials that are in charge."

Logan, originally from Alberta, says she's been keeping busy helping feed the volunteer firefighters who have flooded their community to help battle the fires.

She says residents to the south of her and those around Christina Lake are on evacuation alert as well.

The "Stickpin" fire is within five miles of the Canadian border and officials are concerned sparks from it could jump over to Canada, sparking more fires in the tinder dry forests.
