There's a chance to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to make our community a safer place to live.

Nominations are now open for the Alberta Community Justice Awards.

According to the Government of Alberta, the awards will celebrate those who have made "outstanding contributions to community safety."

They're looking for nominations in the categories of leadership, innovation, service enhancement, community mobilization, as well as partnerships and collaboration.

The awards will recognize the efforts of individuals and groups in areas such as victims' services, youth justice and restorative justice.

Nomination forms must be submitted by February 20, 2018 and the Alberta Community Justice Awards ceremony will take place in Edmonton in June.
