A special event is coming to the Okotoks Public Library this week.

Local authors will be showing off their talents to the community during the Authors' Expo over the Alberta Culture Days weekend.

Expo coordinator Lara Grunow says the event is a perfect way for community members to engage themselves with reading and writing.

"The authors will have tables set up where people can come in and talk to them and purchase a copy of their books, as well at arranged times throughout the day authors will be giving little readings and chatting about what went into making their books or getting it published or the writing process," Grunow says.

Grunow says the Foothills is full of talented authors.

"We are surrounded by local writing talent and it's so great that they're willing to come out and support the library and we can support them back," she says. "Some of the authors do actually still do produce printed books and some of them are just popular from doing e-books and e-resources and they've made themselves a great living doing that and we're happy to help spread their name and let the community know that they're out there."

The Authors' Expo at takes place Sat. Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
