A clerk was injured in a late night armed robbery in High River Sunday.

RCMP Corporal Tammy Keibel says it happened about 11:45 when one man walked into the Circle K convenience store on 5th Street south east looking for money and cigarettes.

"The clerk was assaulted during the course of the incident, struck several times I understand with the alleged firearm, as well as was kicked and subsequently was sprayed with what was believed to be bear spray," she says. "Emergency Medical Services did respond and did treat the clerk at the scene, he received minor injuries."

She says this sort of crime raises red flags.

"Any situation involving violence such as this one would obviously cause the public some concern," Cpl. Keibel says.

The suspect is described as wearing a large dark coloured hooded sweater with a white N-95 style mask, light coloured pants and white sneakers and has a slim build.

High River RCMP are asking for the public's help with information in relation to this incident or identifying those responsible.

You're asked to contact High River RCMP at 403-652-2357 or your local police.
