TD Bank in Okotoks was the victim of an armed robbery on Thursday afternoon.

Police say around 3:00 p.m. a man walked into the bank with a note demanding money from a bank teller.

After an undisclosed amount of cash was given to the suspect he fled the scene.

Sgt. Sukh Randhawa says it's unknown what the suspect may have been armed with.

"There was no information in terms of what he was armed with, nobody saw any kind of firearm or knife or anything like that, he just said 'this is a bank robbery and I'm armed'."

Randhawa adds RCMP responded right away and thanks to surveillance video and information from a citizen the suspect was located.

"He was found near the Okotoks Library. A municipal officer had interacted with him at the scene and after a small foot chase he was apprehended."

No one was injured from the incident.

Okotoks RCMP were assisted by Okotoks Municipal Enforcement, Okotoks GIS, and the Police Dog Service Unit.

Police say Gareth Edward Denman, 28 of Cultus Lake BC who now lives in Calgary, is facing robbery charges.
