The 42nd Annual Okotoks Collector Car Auction wrapped up yesterday.

The Okotoks Recreational Centre was packed with 102 different classic cars and their enthusiasts both Friday and Saturday.

Okotoks Collector Car Auction Partner and Wife to President Jeff Hill; Astrid Hill says each year is different.

"This year's a little bit different, every year's different. But this year we have 102 really really nice cars, every year the selection is completely different so we don't know what the outcome will be but every car is almost selling. Every lot has sold so far so we are doing good."

Last year the show had an all time sell record of almost $ 2 million dollars and had a 72% sale rate on Saturday and 73% sale rate on Sunday.

Hill says the combination of their loyal supporters and the new online bidding system has helped increase their sales.

"We've had guys coming back from day one...we've had a guy from Australia last year come and buy three cars, people from Saskatchewan and down south. This is also our first year doing online bidding so it a new thing and its great, we have over 40 bidders online so far so it's pretty cool."

Overall the weekend was successful, Hill says her favorite part is the people that the show attracts.

"It's pretty special, we have great staff, great consignors, great buyers so I think the people is definitely the favorite part for me and I would say on Jeff's behalf it would probably be the cars but he loves the interaction as well."

The OCCA show is the longest running Canadian event of this kind with a total of 42 years under it's belt.
