Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson is doing his best to keep busy this summer.

He says he's working out DRP issues and economic development in High River and keeping close tabs on the pipeline situation in Okotoks, among other things.

"I'm busy meeting with constituents right now," he says. "We're waiting for this government to bring their budget down [and] we don't think we're going to see anything until October. But unfortunately they've gone to their own executive committee and requested to borrow another $6 billion without giving us the opportunity to debate or discuss."

He says he's paying particular attention to what's happening in agriculture this summer.

"The farmers are worried about the cost of hay and feeding their cattle this winter. We could use some more rainfall obviously in different sections of the province. Up north they're having some difficulty with that and they've claimed some emergency status in the northern area; in the south we're a little better off per say."

Anderson says one area of concern is the NDP's budget.

He says they've gone ahead and borrowed $6 billion through their executive committee, with no debate which he says is a cause for concern.

He says we'll have to wait until they come out with their budget in the fall to see what the impact from the borrowing is.
