The Alberta Legislature wrapped up their spring sitting a couple of weeks ago, but it left a sour taste in the mouths of the Opposition Wildrose before heading their separate ways for the Summer.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson says Bill 17, the Fair and Family Friendly Workplaces Act, was a tough one to swallow, at least the changes affecting unions.

"The NDP are trying to sell the Bill on a compassionate note. Things like time off and maternity leave and things like that, which we were fully in support of. But the back end of this Bill was all about getting rid of secret ballots and then forcing unionization on a lot of our institutions."

Anderson says he only saw 36 days of consultations around Bill 17 before it was introduced, which he says isn't enough given the changes the legislation calls for.
