The DRP and potable water pipelines were hot topics of discussion for Alberta Party Leader Greg Clark Monday making stops in High River and Okotoks to not only show residents of the Foothills what the Alberta Party is about but also was there to listen.

Despite the next provincial election being over three years away Clark who holds the only seat in the Legislature for the Alberta Party says it's important to get out to all communities in the province and see where Albertans are at on a political state of mind.

"Albertans on the whole are perhaps not going to be happy with the NDP in four years time I'm not convinced the Wildrose is the right thing to do either and I think the PC party has far too much baggage to really rebuild," he says.  So Albertans are going to be looking for someone who is fiscally responsible, socially moderate, that's what the Alberta Party is."

Clarks says it's not easy being the lone wolf in Edmonton but says you can still make yourself heard to the NDP's, Wildrose, PC's or Liberals.

"As an opposition MLA I've got a choice I can oppose everything and try to tear down the government or I can propose ideas and try to build up Alberta that's what I choose to do. I'm here to make Alberta a better place and if I can propose ideas that government takes and runs with and makes Alberta a better place that's great that's why I'm here that's a job done," he says. "So just being angry and negative and opposing for opposition sake that's not my style and I don't think that's what Albertans want out of their politicians so I think there's a better way of doing it that's who I am and what the Alberta party is."

Clark and the Alberta Party will be making their own shadow budget when the Notely government reveals the general budget this spring to keep up with appearances like other parties do at budget time.

But with a name like The Alberta Party, when asked Clark said he's looking to take a page of out the Sask Party and work towards what Premier Brad Wall has done for the province of Saskatchewan.

"I have a great deal of respect for Brad Wall I think he's the best premier in Canada and absolutely I want to be exactly like Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party because I want to stand up for my province, I'm a proud Canadian there's no doubt about that but I love the idea that I'm not tied in anyway to a federal party and I can always do the right thing for my province."
