With all the precipitation the Foothills has recently received, Alberta Environment has issued a high stream flow advisory for the Sheep River.

Due to the forecasted rainfall, minor flooding in lower lying areas, including the Sheep River Park near the playground and the campground, is possible.

A high stream flow advisory is put into effect when stream levels are rising or are predicted to rise rapidly, but with no major flooding expected.

Town staff are monitoring the river flows and weather patterns and ask all residents to be cautious around the river at this time.

The Town of Okotoks will provide river level updates when necessary during this period of continuous rainfall.
