Competitors are ready to kick up dirt at the Nanton Ag Grounds for the annual Senior Pro Rodeo.

The event features contestants ranging in age from 40 to over 80-years-old and will also have a Western Collectibles Market and silent auction where proceeds will go back towards the Nanton Rodeo Committee.

Colleen McPeak, organizer for the market, says they'll have a variety of items for sale.

"There'll be various items coming in from contestants and from what I understand there's going to be items coming in from outside people as well. Right now I know of some native beadwork that's coming, southwestern jewelry, art, western tack, and some antiques."

McPeak adds it's a great weekend filled with entertainment for people of all ages.

"We would just like to encourage people to come down and spend an afternoon with us and really see what the Senior Pro Rodeo is all about. It's not for those next to the wheel chair by any means. Our competitors are highly competitive and they're past Canadian champions in a lot of different events. They still rodeo with a very, very, keen sense."

The Senior Pro Rodeo starts at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, noon on Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The Western Collectibles Market goes from 12-4:00 p.m. on Saturday and the silent auction goes from 4-8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
