You may have had the AA Midget and Pee Wee Oilers Black teams come a knocking on your doors recently. They were doing a door to door food bank drive to stock the shelves of the Okotoks Food Bank; and stock the shelves they did!

Team Manager Bob Smith says the team collected over 3000 Llbs of food, and wasn't sure at the beginning if they would fill the trailer but was pleasantly surprised.

"We weren't sure with the big trailer that we had, we just kept putting it in, and putting it in and then when we were dropping it off, even the Food Bank was very overwhelmed with how much food we were actually bringing in."

Although Smith can't speak for his players, he says there was definitely a feel good atmosphere, specially when the team was taking their haul to the Food Bank.

"It was completely new to a lot of them, It was eye opening that there's people out there who need this kind of service." Smith says "They couldn't believe they were actually helping, and astounded at how much food they brought in to fill the shelves and so forth."

The Okotoks AA Midget Oilers are in the top of their league, still vying for that first place finish to make it two years in a row.
