Bowlers from Okotoks and across the Foothills came together last Sunday in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Rock and Bowl Fundraiser.

Mentoring Coordinator for BBBS, Kristy Packwood, says the teams went above their fundraising goals this year.

"Each team was asked to raise a minimum of $400, all of them went above and beyond, and raised more than that," she said.

Packwood says the funds raised help support community youth.

"It stays right here in Okotoks, and it helps us to support and maintain our current programs, and to bring on board more mentors so that we can continue to support young people in Okotoks," she said.

She adds the fundraiser would not be possible without Millennium Lanes, who donate their space every year for the event.

A total of 20 teams of bowlers participated in the event, which was sold out for the first time and raised the highest amount of funds since the start of the event.

$16,750 was raised, which will go toward supporting programming for serving community youth. This is the first time they have raised that amount of funds, and also the first time the event has sold out.

Over the past six years, the events have raised a total of $59,000.
