2016 saw the Okotoks Municipal Enforcement team see their work load go up once again from years prior.

From traffic violations to by-law enforcement Municipal Enforcement members were busy all year.

Municipal Enforcement Manager Tim Stobbs says they saw quite the increase when it comes to the number  of calls they received.

"We saw that we had approximately a 17 percent increase in complaints over the year," he says. "We had 1787 calls for service that we answered and on top of that the officers were involved in 527 officer generated events for the year."

Stobbs says when breaking down the numbers they saw almost 1000 more calls in the 2016 than 2015.

"In 2015 we issued 4,134 violation tickets and we issued 5,084 in 2016."

With by-law enforcement including animal violation and standards placed upon the Town, Stobbs says they definitely saw their share of dog bite complaints.

"The amount of conflict we had dogs either bit a person or dog and I don't know if that's just people being more engaged in the active transportation program and they're out walking and coming into contact with each other or if we just have more dogs. We're licensing approximately the same amount of dogs."
