With a bigger Christmas list this year the High River Salvation Army is asking for extra help from the Foothills community.

Toy hampers are coming out soon and with Okotoks not running their program the High River Salvation Army is taking on all of the Foothills.

Lieutenant Kelly Fifield says the Christmas toy hampers ensure the holidays are a special time for all.

"This year we are getting geared up for Christmas, even though I know it's only the beginning of November and for our Christmas hamper that we offer every year. And so our Christmas hamper program we collect toys and we help parents supply some gifts for Christmas, those that are needing extra assistance."

Though Okotokians could always go to the High River Salvation Army for assistance she says this is a big year for them as they will help any family who needs it in the area.

"So we provide our toy hampers for anyone who lives within the Foothills that needs assistance so anyone that lives in Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Longview, Priddis, Millarville , High River, Cayley, Okotoks. All of those small communities."

Fifield adds that one donation can go a long way.

"We are looking for toy donations from everyone and it's always remembering that one toy makes  a difference. If that's all you can give is one toy then if everyone gave one toy that allows us to help so many more kids."

Drop off locations won't be out until around the week of November 14th and lists of locations can be found by calling at 403-652-2195 ext. 2.
