Since their resurrection over a year ago, the Okotoks Legion has continued to grow and prosper.

The Legion has added over 180 members since their return and they couldn't be happier.

Legion President Bob Macleod says they're always looking to add even more memberships to the charter.

"We've got a great group," he says. "We're 180 and growing, it's one thing that a lot of people don't perhaps realize, that you don't have to be a veteran, or even be a descendent of a veteran to join the legion, and we welcome everybody."

Macleod says they've opened up different lines of communication in the branch, using social media to get their message out to the community.

"We have a website and a facebook page," he says. "They can go to okotokslegion.ca, and the information is there, the contact numbers are there and they can call any member of the legion to get the information."

Macleod knows the club wouldn't have been able to come back the way it has without support from the town.

"We've had really good support from the town of Okotoks, from Bill Robertson, from the museum and all sorts of different agencies within the town."

Some of the events the Legion, with the partnership within the Okotoks Elks club include monthly dinners, a sports night that happens every Thursday and their poppy campaign which will begin in the fall.
