150 deserving Albertans were in High River Wednesday, June 28, to receive their Canada 150 Awards from Foothills MP John Barlow.

Barlow says the people getting the awards were a cross section of those who call Southern Alberta home.

"it's amazing the type of people who we have in the riding and the types of things they do for their communities and the hours that they put it. They do it because they love it. Honestly, even on stage, people are saying "I'm so honoured to be up here. I don't think I deserve this." They do deserve it! If it wasn't for their activities and their volunteer hours, our communities wouldn't be what they are."

By far the youngest recipient was High River's Tate Barton, who raises buckets of money for cancer research each year selling lemonade during the Little Britches Parade.

Tate says he's not stopping anytime soon.

"I want to do more selling, and I want to go to more places."

It was a full house to see the event and thank those who've given so much back to their various communities.
