Tuesday night's WPCA tarp auction saw a big decrease in the amount of money being spent on chuckwagon racing around the province.

Overall, the bids were down by $241,600

High River's Guy Weadick Days saw total bids of $131,250. down $26,750 from last year's total.

But, even though it was a loss, the High River show fared better than others which were down even more significantly.

Kurt Bensmiller was the big winner for the High River show with the Tsuu T'ina Nation writing him a cheque for $15,000.

For the local Driver's, Okotoks Mark Sutherland came out on top with an even $30,000 in bids, spread over the seven races.

He went to K-Link Developments Ltd, for Guy Weadick Days for $6,000.

High River driver Jason Glass walked away with $28,000 overall, and $4,000 for the High River Show.

While fellow High River Driver Jordie Fike picked up $25,750 for all seven shows, including $6,000 from Shawne Excavating to run with their tarp at Guy Weadick Days.

The Grande Prairie Stompede auction goes Thursday.
