Two 7th Grade Foothills Eagles players are heading south this weekend to represent Alberta in an annual All Star football game between Alberta and BC.

Isaac Holunga, and Westley Johnsen will take part in the Young Stars Division of the ABC Bowl held at the University of Lethbridge.

Tammy Holunga, Isaac's mother says the boys have been working towards the ABC Bowl since February.

Their Eagle's coach from last season suggested they attend the tryouts in Calgary this past February which consisted of combine strength and agility testing and a week later they both received invites to represent Alberta in this year’s Bowl," she explains. "They were then sent a copy of the playbook and asked to prepare themselves for the Insertion Camp which was held 3 weeks ago in Lacombe where they showcase their talent allowing coaches to place them into specific positions."

Isaac will be wearing #14 and playing both Running Back and Slot Back at the ABC Bowl, he has been playing football for the Eagles since he was 7. He was honored with the Offensive MVP award for his performance last fall and is moving from Peewee to Bantam this coming season.

Westley will be #15 and will play in positions of Offensive Lineman, Defensive End and Full Back at the competition, he's played football since he was 9 years old where he played for the Sooke Seahawks in Vancouver and has played the last 3 seasons with the Eagles. Through his years of playing he has received the Running Back of the year award as well as player of the game. He too will be moving up from Peewee to Bantam this coming fall.

Holunga shares the ABC bowl is organized by Ron Dias, a well known football recruiter, a recognized name by NCAA coaches in the US, and has sent more than 500 players to the US on Athletic scholarships.

"To be chosen to play in these Bowl games gives the boys early exposure to recruiters who will track the progress of their players throughout their careers. Once in high school, their All Star recruiting report is shared with Universities and Colleges across Canada and the US where players will have already been identified as prospects to watch and recruit."

She adds Isaac and Westley are excited, honoured, and also a little nervous to represent Alberta in their division.

The game will be played Saturday May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Community Stadium, and will be streamed live online at golivesportcast.com.
