This past weekend, it was the Alberta Men's Curling Championship in Grande Prairie.

The bonspiel brings in the best of the best from around the province.

This year, one of the best came from the very streets we walk on.

Team Harty, made up of skip Jeremy Harty, lead Kurtis Goller, Joshua Kiist at second, and Kyler Kleibrink at third, are all from the Foothills area.

These homegrown talents managed to make their way to the semi-final.

Unfortunately, their run ended when they dropped a close 7-6 semi-final against Edmonton's Ted Appelman, who then eventually lost to the provincial champion, Kevin Koe.

In the semi-final, Appelman was up 3-0 by the fifth end, then Harty had a few points of their own.

After a three-point eighth end by Appelman, Harty's fate seemed sealed.

In the final two ends, Harty scored three unanswered points, but it proved not to be enough as they lost the close matchup.
