No penalties, but some slow times for local drivers as the WPCA season kicked off Wednesday, May 31, in Grande Prairie at the Stompede.

Okotoks rookie Dayton Sutherland had the best time for the locals with a 1:20.65, good for 17th spot.

His dad Mark Sutherland was about half a second back in 21st spot.

High River's Jordie Fike was 23rd on the night, while fellow High River Driver Jason Glass brought up the rear in 31st with a 1:22.25.

Layne MacGillivray, Ross Knight, Layne Bremner and Darcy Flad are the top four after night one with four nights of racing to go at Evergreen Park in the Swan City.
