High Prairie's Cody Risdale took the Medicine Hat Stampede chuckwagon crown Sunday, June 17, edging out John Walters in the final heat.

Walters crossed the line first, but took a one second penalty for outrider interference.

Both finished with the exact same time of 1:02.69. with the win going to Risdale for running penalty free.

He says lady luck was on his side.

"I looked after I turned my top barrel and he (Walters) hitting the track already and I was like "Oh no, He's gone!" You know that's the way wagon racing goes, sometimes you get a penalty here and there and sometimes you get lucky like that."

Okotoks Mark Sutherland was seventh, High River's Jordie Fike was 10th, Dayton Sutherland was 28th and Jason Glass was 32nd.

The chucks are in High River for Guy Weadick days starting Thursday, June 21.
