It was a golden moment when the Okotoks Outlaws U12 Tier 1 girls took the gold at the Foothills Minor Baseball Provincials held in Calahoo.

Their longstanding history with Nose Creek made it especially sweet since they lost to them last year.

Head Coach Michelle Knoch says their team has a motto and the banner they carry with them to every game says it all.

"Our motto on our team and we have a banner that says "Believe". That's what we tell our kids all the time, you have to believe."

She says they can struggle against Nose Creek at times.

"Our history with them is that we usually start out really great, and then we might just have one little mishap that allows them to get ahead. Then we end up battling the whole way, and the whole championship game was like that."

Knoch adds it was a nail-biter all the way to the finish.

"We ended up beating Nose Creek in the first round robin and then we continued on being 5-0, battling every team and just playing fantastic, and then we end up having to face Nose Creek again in the final game."

She says they were tied up 4-4 in the 6th inning when a rain delay stopped the game for about an hour, and adds they came back to win the game even though they were down by three runs taking the win 8 to 7.
