The Okotoks Oilers now boast a 14-1 record after defeating the Camrose Kodiaks 4-3 last night at the Pason Centennial Arena.

It wasn't an easy win for the boys as the game was decided in a shootout, where both Dylan Holloway and Kyle Gordon scored.

Carson Beers, Assistant Captain, says there was a big push by the Kodiaks throughout the game.

"They're a better team than their record, we can't take them lightly, We did for a little bit in the second there, they had most of the play there in the second. But it was a good character win for us."

A rough evening for both teams with hard hits, and a few scraps.

Beers, who was acting as a protector last night says it's just the way he plays.

"I don't try to stray away from it, the coaches are preaching that we need to stand up for each other and I just try to lead by example there. It doesn't matter who it is, a 16-year-old could stand up for a 20-year-old. You've got to be a family, if you're brother gets hit down you always try to fight for them."

The Oilers now host the Lloydminister Bobcats tonight at the Pason Centennial Arena.

Puck drop is 7:00 p.m.
